The following Worlds Without End bloggers will be presenting or speaking at the 2012 Sunstone Symposium in Salt Lake City. This year’s symposium will be held at the University of Utah’s Olpin Student Union building, 200 S. Central Campus Dr., Salt Lake City, 84112. More details can be found on the Sunstone site.

On Thursday, July 26:

  • Bridget Jack Jeffries will be participating in a panel on “All Apologies: The Role of Apologetics in Mormonism and Mormon Studies” from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Other panelists will include Kaimipono Wenger, Kevin Barney, and John-Charles Duffy.
  • Cheryl Bruno and Ellen Decoo will be participating in a panel on “Heavenly Mother and the Letter of the Law” from 5:00 – 6:30 PM. Other panelists include Holly Welker, Janice Allred, Chelsi Archibald, Doe Daughtrey, Jennifer Duque, Melanny Eva Henson, Mary Ellen Robertson, Renee Shaw, Tiffany M. Singer, Margaret Toscano, Kaimipono Wenger, and Rachel Mabey Whipple.

On Friday, July 27:

  • Ellen Decoo will be serving as the repondent to Gary James Bergera’s “Student Political Activism at Brigham Young University, 1965-1971″ from 9:45 – 10:45 AM.
  • John K. Williams will be hosting an author signing for his book, Heaven Up There from 12:30 – 2:00 PM.
  • Bridget Jack Jeffries will be serving as a respondent to John-Charles Duffy’s “What Keeps Mormons and Evangelicals from Cooperating Politically?” from 3:45 – 4:45 PM.
  • Cheryl Bruno will be participating in a panel on “The Vagina Testimonies” from 3:45 – 6:30 PM. Other panelists include Katherine Allred, Donna Banta, Marie Davis Brian, Hilary C. Brown, Carol Hamer, Melany Eva Henson, Jill Peterfeso, Reva Beth Russell, Dominique Storni, Kiley Sullivan, and Holly Welker.
  • Mark Thomas will be participating in a panel on “Diagnosing the Seer: An Assessment of the First Vision” from 5:00 – 6:30 PM. Other panelists include Todd Compton, John-Charles Duffy, and Dan Vogel.
  • Don Bradley will be speaking at the “Pillars of My Faith” session at 8:00 PM. Maxine Hanks will also be speaking at this session.

On Saturday, July 28:

  • Seth Payne will be presenting a paper on “Mormon Neo-Liberalism: Defining Faith for Those Who Doubt” from 8:30 – 9:30 AM.
  • John K. Williams will be presenting a paper on “Sins of Omission: Spinning the Missionary Experience” from 8:30 – 9:30 AM. J. Frederick (Toby) Pingree will be serving as a respondent.
  • Christopher Smith will be serving as a respondent to John Larsen’s “The Iroquois as the Lamanite: An Argument for a Contemporary Reading of the Book of Mormon” from 9:45 – 10:45 AM.
  • John K. Williams will be participating in a panel on “Who Gets to Say What Former Mormons are Like?” from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Other panelists include Carol Hamer, Jon Adams, Donna Banta, Jason Echols, Jeff Ricks, and Kiley Sullivan.
  • Christopher Smith will be presenting a paper on “B. H. Roberts’ 1909 General Conference Address on Post-Second Manifesto Polygamy” from 2:00 – 3:30 PM. Joe Geisner will also be presenting a paper at this session entitled “B. H. Roberts as a DNA Mormon and His Continuing Influence.” D. Michael Quinn will be serving as a respondent.
  • Cheryl Bruno and Bridget Jack Jeffries will be participating in a panel on “Do Good Online Fences Make Good LDS Neighbors?” from 2:00 – 4:45 PM. Other panelists include Carol Hamer, Aaron Taylor, Andrew Spriggs, Jason Echols, Kaimipono Wenger, and Rachel Mabey Whipple.
  • Cheryl Bruno will be participating in a panel on “Look to the West: Mormonism and the Masonic World View” from 5:00 – 6:30 PM. Joe Swick will also be on this panel.
  • Chuck Schofield and Mark Thomas will be participating in a panel on “Multiply and Replenish: Population Control and Your Ecological Footprint” from 5:00 – 6:30 PM. Other panelists include Rachel Mabey Whipple and Soren Simunsen.

FAIR Conference, Sandy, 2012

Don Bradley will be presenting at this year’s FAIR Conference on “Piercing the Veil: Temple Worship in the Lost 116 Pages.” His presentation will take place on Friday, August 3 at 2:00 PM. The 2012 FAIR Conference will be held at the South Towne Exposition Center, 9575 South State Street, Sandy, Utah. More details can be found on the FAIR site.

  1. I won’t be presenting at FAIR, but I’ll be in attendance alongside a few other WWE bloggers and readers. Due to family obligations, I was unable to attend Sunstone this year. Next year will likely provide a much more flexible schedule.
